Happy and Sad Day

We arrived to HOT weather after a short night with little sleep.  Flat had all windows open and a fan trying to move a little air. After settling in and a short nap we headed to Evensong at Westminister Abbey.

Today is 1st Anniversary of Charles as King which means also marking the death of Queen Elizabeth. The Evensong was marking the Accession of Charles as King and was a lovely service in a beautiful setting.







After Evensong we just walked around a little and saw Big Ben and Houses of Parliament.

Then headed back toward toward flat to get some dinner and groceries.

Steak and ale pie, with mash and mixed green  at local pub hit the spot.  But it was hot inside  no a/c,  as all outside tables taken.



And in case wondering what you might see walking around London,  a street light pole conceals charger for electric cars. So chargers all around!

Saturday  we tour Westminister Abbey and Houses of Parliament.  Religion and Poltics all in one day 🤣🤣

Winding up in Windsor

This was view from table at breakfast this morning at Riverside restaurant. Delicious French toast with fresh fruit. Then onto Windsor Castle and join the line for our time slot. Lots of construction so entry a convoluted route through shopping precinct!?! Place was packed and airport type security. Then have to figure out where to get multi-media guides. One thing we had noticed was that places wiped down screen of multimedia equipment but the headphones do not appear to be cleaned at all between customers!?! So this time used my own headphones.  With Covid on the increase in UK I would think wiping down all equipment,  that shared, would be a basic!?!  We did not get to see Queen Mary's Doll house as about a 40 minute wait in queue...so much for timed tickets??
