Let them eat carbs!

This is what saw from Conservatory Friday  morning... foggy start to day!  But it soon lifted and sun peaked through.

We had picked up Hot Cross Buns, and proper butter, at Aldi's last night so Breakfast was Tea with Toasted and Buttered Hot Cross Buns in the Conservatory.

Then off to Local Farmers Market in Abingdon, just few miles from Bungalow. Small market but some interesting vendors. We bought some pastries for Saturday morning breakfast as sample tasted good :)  Shirley tried some fudge but not impressed.

Then off to Oxford. Oxford town centre is now  a pedestrian zone so we used a Park and Ride lot and took shuttle bus into the town. We  walked around visiting shops and colleges of the University....

As a Pedestrian Zone you get entertainers...

It was Open Day at colleges so lots of people around.  We saw some of Lincoln, Trinty and Exeter College. Dining Hall and Chapel of Exeter College..

We had booked an Afternoon Tea at Old Parsonage Hotel and as a warm day were able to sit outside and enjoy sunny weather and a delicious tea!

After a long wait got crowded shuttle bus back to Park and Ride lot. Lots of signs looking for drivers so the 10-15 wait was more like 30-40! Electric cars more common here and about 6 chargers at front of parking lot!

Once back at Bungalow decided to make some ice tea, not easy to find in UK. Knew had seen ice tray in freezer and when went to find in fact found a "bag of ice".  Notice size of bag compared to length of spoon . . .

Decided to sit outside for a while in Vinery area. Owners have grape vines and created covered area with some nice chairs and string lighting that overlooks some of flowers in garden and can see patio area and Conservatory. Beautiful night as watched clouds and sun set. Almost got real chilly, felt good....

Heading to Cotswolds tomorrow to explore...

  2. I am so envious – wish I was with you. Haven't been back to England (which I still think of as home) since our trip in 1989 (at least I think that was the year). We are having a heat wave here and supposed to go up to 93F later in the week, predicted to be 81F today. Have a physio appt this afternoon – but otherwise will probably just stay indoors – the house being double-brick stays fairly comfortable unless the heat wave continues for a number of days. Love your commentary and all the great pictures. Love Lindy
