Keep left

 Up early to pack and tidy up as left London today. Took coach (bus) to Heathrow,  picked up rental car and headed out of town!  Then came the fun part..does Nancy remember how to drive a stick shift 😳  And to stay to left side of road. Actually not l bad considering has been about 7 years since last drove in UK.  We set Waze to no motorway, not taking on big lorries (trucks) and testing insurance policy just after leaving the Hertz lot!  Lots of construction and road works which slowed us down and made hard to see area and signs.  Also meant hard to find a place to grab a bite of lunch!

Got to bungalow and after easy check-in had a nice cuppa in the conservatory. Place is light and airy and looks newly redecorated.

As had missed lunch wanted an early dinner  so found The Fox Inn, a local pub, and I had cottage pie with mixed greens, peas and cabbage, and  Shirley had steak and salad.  Apple and blackberry crumble with custard for dessert. 

You can tell in Country when a special evening is Game night..no not board games but animal, as in venison!



Then headed to Aldi's to get some milk and fruit. Was huge and whatever you need they have!!  As in US sign as walk in...We are Hiring! One big difference is they have self checkout lanes along with about 5 with cashier.

Eggs not refrigerated in UK as have different "coating" on them.


Then back to bungalow to unpack and finish settling in. Sat in conservatory, that has fairy lights  ceiling, and enjoyed the "sounds of silence". So peaceful and quiet here. Went over options and for tomorrow looks like no early start before do Farmers Market, walking around Oxford and colleges and then maybe afternoon tea in Oxford or Cotswold village.

Weather much cooler, typical 70s, and sunny which perfect.  So finally using other half of clothes brought 🤣

 If you know it will be a busy day best to plan ahead and load up on protein!  After all, as your mother told you, Breakfast most important meal of day. And hard to beat an English breakfast... And off we go to the Victoria and Albert Museum.  So many collections of all shapes and sizes hard to choose but didn't have a week to spare to see everything! No matter where look beautiful and interesting displays.... Then quick bus ride,  walk through Park and Voila a Palace is in front of you!  Friends Val and Linda joined us again so they could clarify any "British" questions!  Kinda crazy eclectic exhibit on comparing 18th Century Dress to modern dress!?!  And of course so interesting seeing where Victoria grew up and learning more about her and reign.   And of course had to visit sunken Gardens and Diana statue.  Kensington Palace was where Lady Diana's lived... 90 Degrees!

A good nights sleep makes all the difference, especially when you missed a night! A nice pot of tea, ceral and fruit and off to Westminister Abbey - no jackets or umbrellas needed for sure. Everything is now timed tickets so need to get places before time as never know which door to use or what kind of security checks they will have.  Made it in time and joined the line for entry, security and picking up audio/multi media guides.  Even though one of earliest time slots the place was packed and anything but a cold stone church...was incredibly hot inside.  The guide is good and can go at own pace except the crowds dictate how fast you can actually go. We skipped some of small side chapels as just so crowded and how many chapels can you really take in at once? The City

 Yeah, finally British weather! Cool, not cold, sun but not scorching and was dry most of day! The day started with bus ride to John Wesley's House,the Chapel and museum. It seemed staffed by volunteers who are helpful but not very knowledge. And after waiting ages for guide re house tour we just headed over to house only to be told they had just let a very large group in and would be at least 45 minutes! They had a concert later in day and we were able to hear as pianist practiced for his concert!   Then headed to restaurant for lunch with Savernake Gang. It was wonderful seeing everyone and catching up. Time marches on but frienships remain and we just picked up from where had left off as if no gap in time!  The restaurant was wonderful and our server was really great and did excellent job looking after us. The City has changed so much! New construction and buildings everywhere and hard to recognize much at all.  On way to St Paul's stopped for a visit to Leadenhall Market, n
